Tripadvisor ranking: 1 of 1 on Reethirah; 2026 Travelers' Choice; sub-scores Location / Rooms / Cleanliness 4.9, Service 4.8, Value 4.3
Common praise
- Staff / host service is the overwhelming praise point (the multilingual host Yiting is often named; the GM is hands-on, complaints are resolved fast, disputed items are struck from the bill)
- The 'nothing to the left, right or front - just ocean' privacy layout of the water villas, the Missoni beach styling and details like the Louis Roederer welcome are praised repeatedly
- Tapasake (Japanese) is a consensus top-10 in the Maldives; the free sauna / cold-therapy suite (12C and 6-7C plunges) is professional
- Known in Chinese as 'Weiyi / Reethi Rah', a symbol of 'quietly-rich old-money' classic ultra-luxury, said to have 'inspired Cheval Blanc, JOALI and the Waldorf Astoria'
- 'One of the largest private islands in the Maldives', 'a family holiday paradise even with two kids' and the privacy of the angled water villas are frequent content
Common complaints
- Expensive and adds up fast: Value 4.3, and the US$80 non-main-restaurant credit + 18% tax + 10% service charge is quickly exceeded
- The daily dining outside Tapasake is felt by several reviews to 'not match the price' (an ordinary breakfast, a weak lunch, pizza and pasta that are not premium)
- About two-thirds of the island is closed for a major renovation, expected to run to the end of 2026 - many of the signature beaches / lagoons are out of reach
- The Chinese name is written several ways, and some posts confuse it with other newer islands
- The renovation is not much discussed on Xiaohongshu, but the English platforms are clear: about two-thirds of the island is currently closed for construction
Tripadvisor 4.8/5 (1,992 reviews, a 2026 Travelers' Choice) and Google 4.7/5 (377) - on Xiaohongshu it is a classic 'quietly-rich old-money' ultra-luxury symbol. All three agree: the staff / host service (including multilingual butlers), the absolute privacy of the angled water villas, Tapasake and the large island with its family / teen facilities are the draws; the weaknesses are that it is expensive and adds up beyond the dining credit, the daily dining outside Tapasake is weak for the price, and about two-thirds of the island is under renovation until the end of 2026 - confirm which areas and beaches are open before booking.
