Guest reputation
Tripadvisor ranking: 1 of 1 on Vilamendhoo; 2026 Travelers' Choice; sub-scores Location 4.9, Cleanliness / Service 4.8, Value 4.6
Common praise
- The house reef is repeatedly called 'one of the best in the Maldives' - coral / turtles / reef sharks / eagle rays straight off the beach anywhere, with many repeat guests ('5th time')
- The island is meticulously kept and very clean (rooms cleaned 2-3 times a day), staff are friendly and drinking water is included throughout
- The Euro-Divers dive centre is well organised, and whale-shark / manta trips are good
- Regularly named on 'top 5 Maldives snorkelling' lists; 'all-inclusive throws in a lot' / 'dive straight into the Maldives aquarium' is the main pitch
- The full-board / all-inclusive price is treated as a value option in island-selection posts
Common complaints
- Room aspect matters a lot: the south side is stiller and looks onto boats / a neighbouring island / seawall, the north side is better
- Excursions are pricey; the bar can be slow to get attention, and small maintenance (safe / drainage) is sometimes delayed
- Rooms are a 4-star standard with no pool rooms - anyone wanting luxury facilities will find them plain
- The Chinese name is written inconsistently and is often confused with Vakkaru / Velaa, so dedicated trip reports are rare - this island is more popular with European guests
- No distinct complaint theme - there simply are not many posts
Tripadvisor 4.8/5 (8,310 reviews, Location 4.9) and Google 4.8/5 (1,376) - a very stable reputation. The overwhelming draw is a top-tier house reef you can enter from anywhere around the island plus South Ari whale sharks, spotless upkeep and lots of repeat guests; the weaknesses are a big north/south difference between rooms, pricey excursions, and 4-star rooms with no pool. Xiaohongshu coverage is thin (more popular with European guests, and the Chinese name is inconsistent) but it regularly makes 'top 5 snorkelling' lists.
